Our Mission

The mission of Vessels of Comfort Ministries focuses on improving the lives of individuals and families experiencing a crisis or life-changing event.  This is done on a one-on-one basis through presence, intercessory prayer, fasting, practical supports, and resource referrals.

Welcome to the VOC Board

In most cases, organizations consider the level of power and influence of its board members. The organization assesses its mission to determine what people are needed to take the organization in the desired direction.  Even though we are blessed to have men and women of character and influence on our Board, we focus more on their journeys, their struggles and pain, rather than their gifts and talents.

Our Board members have professional backgrounds in accounting; customer service; finance; healthcare and medicine; public relations; research and statistics; and social work.  But more importantly, they are caregivers; cancer survivors; individuals living with chronic conditions; and persons who have triumphed in the midst of incredible loss.

We realize that it is in their own brokenness that each one is able to minister and impact the lives of others.

Our Founder's Message

In Matthew 6:34, Jesus says, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”  Jesus knew that each of us would have trouble.

As humans, we deal with all types of problems.  We suffer abuse, illness, financial difficulties, and other afflictions.  Our hospitals, streets, homes and prisons are filled with hurt people hungry for God to intervene in their lives.  Their experiences have the potential of being opportunities for Christians to demonstrate His love, but most of us are so busy, we never seize those moments.

This is acceptable until “pain” happens to you.

That was my story.  I did everything that good church folks do.  I went to church; I served, rarely missing a Sunday.  But then, MY life was interrupted.  Early on, I realized that I was alone, with the exception of close family and friends.  It is in this “waterless pit” that God changed me.  He reminded me that there are many people in hospitals, in homes, and on the streets struggling with problems and unable to worship with the crowds.

It’s ironic that most of the scripture in the gospels details the words and works of Jesus in His community—where he lived.  The miracles didn’t take place in churches.  As Christ followers, we are compelled to tell the hurting that we are not contained to church walls, but that God’s love is alive on the streets and in homes.  We have to meet people where they are.

It is my hope that when a Vessel shows up in the life of someone whose life has been interrupted, they feel like they have been in the presence of Jesus.  They see His power demonstrated, feel His love, and experience His comfort.
