For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
Colossians 1:20
As we prepare our hearts to celebrate Christmas, we must not allow ourselves to be distracted by the shopping, the decorations, and all the other things that come to take our time and attention.
As Christians, we have a responsibility to focus on the real meaning of Christmas. In the fullness of time, Jesus came and his impact changed this world forever. In the 1st chapter of Colossians, Paul defines WHO Christ really is. We must recognize that he is not some small baby lying in a manger. The word of the Lord says in the book of Colossians that Jesus is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. He is so supreme that in him all things were created. Not only that, He is before all things and in him all things hold together. He is the head of the body: the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead. He is Supreme. (Colossians 1:15-20)
What does that mean for us? In Christ, we have so many blessings. Over the next few weeks, we will count our blessings one by one. Let the journey begin.
PRAYER: Lord, I’m counting my blessings this season. Despite how difficult this season is because of losses and pain. I choose to focus my attention and my praise on You. You give me reason to celebrate every day of my life. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
