I will extol You, my God, O King; And I will bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever.

Psalm 145:1-2

On this first day of this final week of meditating on some popular hymns, we focus on another one (“Blessed Assurance”) by Fanny Crosby who was blinded at six weeks of age and began writing hymns when she was just six years old. It’s told that tune composer Phoebe Palmer Knapp played a melody to her and asked, "What does the melody say to you?" Crosby replied that the tune said, "Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!" She then proceeded to recite the entire first stanza of the now famous hymn.

MEDITATION: Lord, I am so grateful that you are mine.

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!Heir of salvation, purchase of God,Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood. This is my story, this is my song,Praising my Savior all the day long; This is my story, this is my song,Praising my Savior all the day long.Perfect submission, perfect delight,Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;Angels, descending, bring from aboveEchoes of mercy, whispers of love.Perfect submission, all is at rest,I in my Savior am happy and blest,Watching and waiting, looking above,Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

In the name of Jesus, I praise You. AMEN.
