Also He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.”’

Ezekiel 37:9

In the first prophesy, bones, muscle, and flesh assembled, but they meant absolutely nothing without the breath of God. The theologian Spurgeon says that he first prophesied to the bones by preaching, and then he prophesies to the four winds and is praying. Spurgeon says that the preaching has its part in the work, but it is the praying that truly produces the final results.

As saints, we must remember to not forfeit the benefit of prayer. For in our praying, we are asking our God to intervene on our behalf. Our prayers demonstrate our dependency on a God who can do all things. They tell our God that we are limited in our power but need Him to complete the task.

The other principle to remember is that the first prophesy brought form, but no life. Oh, what a reminder that we not just look like the real deal, but we must allow God’s Spirit to fill us so that we are truly LIVING representatives of Christ on earth. We must not be satisfied with just a form of godliness, but we must embrace the power that come with connection with God.

PRAYER: We need Your breath for revival. Holy Spirit, breathe on us. Give us the grace to pray for revival and the discernment to determine how to pray. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
