And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2 Corinthians 2:9

When I was growing up, we played a lot of ball – dodgeball, kickball, basketball, softball, volleyball, football. Regardless of the sport, each team had a leader who was responsible for choosing who would play with him or her. The leader knew his peers’ strengths and weaknesses. He or she knew that an individual might be strong in one area and not as strong in another. So, the leader tried to select persons who helped to ensure that the team was well-rounded. In other words, team members usually complemented each other. And that is what the Holy Spirit does. He makes us complete, whole. In addition, He takes up the rear – lifting us when and where we are weak.

Romans 8:26 says, “Likewise the Spirit helps us in weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”

PRAYER: Father, sometimes I feel so weak. I’m grateful that your Word says your grace is sufficient in weakness. When I don’t know which road to take or which move to make, empower me. When I don’t know how to pray or what to pray for, strengthen me. Lift me up. Carry me. Fill me up until I overflow. In the name of Jesus, I thank you. Amen.
