Then he turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the LORD, saying, “Remember now, O LORD I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
Isaiah 38:2-3
We have Hezekiah in a desperate situation. He has been told that he will die and not live. He did not question the word of the Lord. He decided to pray. The word of God declares that he turned his face to the wall. That means that he cut off everything else. He realized that there was nothing anyone could do for him. No doctor could cure his illness. No nurse could soothe away this kind of pain. He had to turn to God.
We live in a day when it’s all about connection. We connect with people through voice calls. We connect with people through text messages. We connect with people through social media. Connections are important, as God designed us to be social; however, we must remember that there are times when we have to shut other people out and spend time with our God.
PRAYER: Lord, I admit that I can be too connected to people. There are times when I put those relationships before my relationship with you. Give me wisdom to pull back when I need to. I need that sweet time with you. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
