“I Love the Lord”
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Matthew 22:37
When I was a little girl, this song was my jam…lol. Everywhere I went, I led this song. Sometimes, my grandaunts would point to me and ask me to sing it. At the time, I did not know anything about Matthew 22:37, but I remember what it felt like to sing this song. Even when my life did not line up with God’s Word, singing this declaration made me think about what loving God means.
What does loving God mean to you? When you sing this song, what images are conjured up in your mind? When I sing it, especially in light of this scripture, I am reminded that nothing should be between me and God. He is the most important Person in my life. Everything that I am belongs to Him, and Him alone. He is the One to whom I answer and the One Who orchestrates every step. He is my Only allegiance, while still being my ultimate ally. I love the Lord, without question, dispute, or apprehension.
PRAYER: Lord, I love you! No one else compares to you. You are the apple of my eye. Lord, show me those things that try to rival you for my affection. Give me the grace to put them in their proper place. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
