But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
Luke 8:46-48 (NKJV)
In this chapter of the gospel of Luke, Jesus went to cities and towns spreading the word about the kingdom of God. He healed a demon-possessed man, and when He spoke to the wind and wave, they stilled. He later restored a girl to life. It’s understandable that crowds were flocking behind him. The story about the woman with the issue of blood detailed in today’s passage is a familiar one. Mark 5 says that she had been ill for twelve years. She had suffered many things, had visited many physicians, had spent all her money. She became worse – not better. The Word said that when she heard about Jesus, she “pressed” and touched his garment. She believed that if she could touch his clothes, she would be whole.
Some of us have been struggling with one thing or another for a long time. An illness. An addiction. A stronghold. A situation that seems hopeless. We can learn from this woman: Press on! Don’t give up! His blood makes all the difference.
PRAYER: Oh, it’s you Jesus. Yes, it’s you, Jesus. It’s you Lord, passing by. I’m going to press on because I need a touch from you. I know that if I touch the hem of your garment, your blood will make me whole. I praise you in advance. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
