King Asa also deposed his grandmother Maakah from her position as queen mother, because she had made a repulsive image for the worship of Asherah. Asa cut it down, broke it up and burned it in the Kidron Valley.
2 Chronicles 15:16
As you know, there is always opposition to what God is doing in our lives. There is always something or someone in our lives that will not see the importance of our renewal to God and try to challenge it, either verbally or with actions.
In this passage of scripture, King Asa had a grandmother who made a repulsive image for the worship of Asherah. Asa not only cut it down, broke it, and burned it, but he demoted her from queen mother. He did not allow his relationship with his grandmother to be more important than his relationship and commitment to God.
As you recommit to God, the enemy will try to use those who are the closest to you to stop or block this renewal. We must not allow their sin to impede what God is doing in our lives. Sin is sin, despite who is engaging in it.
PRAYER: Lord, make me aware of those who may not be sold out to you. Do not allow their sin to influence my decision to follow you wholeheartedly. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
