For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.
Jeremiah 31:25
Replenish: to fill up again; to restore or make complete again. This passage of scripture paints the picture of a people who are wasting away due to sin. God, in his great love for them, chooses to replenish them, declaring to them that there is hope despite their current difficulty and pain.
Have you ever been in a place where you felt exiled from God? I know that I have. When I look back at those dark days, it is absolutely amazing that God would come to replenish me considering that much of my suffering was my own fault. But yet our amazing, loving God came and healed those wounds and replenished me.
Further up in this chapter, God asks, “Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a pleasant child? For though I spoke against him, I earnestly remember him still; therefore, my heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him, says the LORD.”
What a mighty, loving God we serve. He remembers our name and has mercy on us. He replenishes our languishing soul, restoring, filling, and making us complete again.
PRAYER: Lord, thank you for not letting me waste away in my state of pain and suffering. Your mercy and goodness are so undeserving. I wait for you, Lord, to replenish my soul. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
