If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

John 14:15-17

I’m an orphan – an earthly orphan that is. Both my parents are deceased. My dad died in 1999, and my mom transitioned eighteen years later. They left my siblings and me an inheritance. I’m not talking about a house, or land, or money. I’m talking about the lessons they taught us, the values they passed on, and many cherished memories. But nothing that they bequeathed compares with what Jesus left all humankind. When He realized that his death was imminent, He tried to prepare the disciples for his departure. He said that He would give us another advocate to help us and be with us forever.

What a promise. Even though Jesus is no longer here on earth, we are not alone!

PRAYER: Lord, I thank you that your promises are true. I thank you that I don’t have to live in sorrow because you are not physically here on earth. I thank you for not leaving me by myself. You said that you would leave me someone who has my back. Thank you for your Holy Spirit, my advocate. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
