Then Joshua charged them at that time, saying, “Cursed be the man before the Lord who rises up and builds this city Jericho; he shall lay its foundation with his firstborn, and with his youngest he shall set up its gates.”
Joshua 6:26
I believe there is a Word of the Lord in this story for us. It states that Joshua charged them at that time, declaring a curse on anyone who comes and rebuilds the city of Jericho. He is very specific about the penalty of rebuilding. He says the person’s firstborn and youngest would die as the foundation is laid and as the gates are set up.
There are some things we had before this pandemic that God does not want us to rebuild. We must understand that in the midst of this global mess, God’s hand is providentially working out His purpose both in the world at large and in our individual lives. There are some things that worked before the pandemic that will no longer work. It is important for us to seek the will of the Lord to determine what he wants us to rebuild and what he wants to remain gone.
PRAYER: Lord, I know that you have a plan for my life. There are some things that are gone that you don’t want me to revisit or resurrect. Point those things out clearly, Lord, as I read your Word and spend time in your presence. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
