Circumstances & Other People You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.” 2nd Chronicles 20:17
One of my favorite Old Testament passages centers around King Jehosophat. The Word says a vast army was waged against him and Judah. Enemies were coming against him from beyond the sea. Jehosophat feared and sought the Lord. He proclaimed a fast, and all the people gathered to inquire of the Lord.
Later in that passage, we read that the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel in the assembly. He said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” When the people sang and praised God, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, and they were defeated. Not one of Judah’s enemies escaped. When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil, they found among them an abundance of valuables on the dead bodies and precious jewelry, which they stripped off for themselves. The spoils were more than they could carry away. It took them three days to gather everything because there was so much.
PRAYER: Lord, I thank for the story of Jehosophat which illustrates how you use circumstances and people (Jahaziel) to speak. Thank you for reminding me that when I face challenges, there is power in seeking you, power in fasting, power in prayer, and power when believers are on one accord. I surrender every situation in my life to you, and I yield to your direction. I expect victory because there is victory in you. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
