And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
1 Peter 5:10
The biblical definition of this verb translated as “restore” means to complete thoroughly (i.e., repair or adjust) – to render fit, sound, and complete. The writer says that after we have suffered a little while, God will himself restore us.
If something needs to be restored, there is an assumption that something is broken. Just take a few moments to think about the things that tried to break you down over the last few years – the situations and the people who tried to take you out.
We must see our situations in light of our great God, who called us to his eternal glory in Christ. He declares that after we have gone through a little while, the God of all grace will Himself restore us. That means that he does not entrust this work to anybody else. It is his work. I find it quite funny that Jesus was born the son of a carpenter, so he had seen his earthly father make things out of nothing and repair things that have been broken.
What do you need this carpenter’s Son to do for you? Open your mouth and tell him all of the places you have been wounded and broken. Tell him that you need him to fulfill this Word in your life. In the Name of Jesus!
