They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their ancestors, with all their heart and soul. All who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, were to be put to death, whether small or great, man or woman. They took an oath to the Lord with loud acclamation, with shouting and with trumpets and horns. All Judah rejoiced about the oath because they had sworn it wholeheartedly. They sought God eagerly, and he was found by them. So the Lord gave them rest on every side.

2 Chronicles 15:12-15

Our walk with the Lord is a serious matter. It is actually the most important decision we will ever make in our lives. Though we sometimes wear God as an accessory, he is so much more.

The Bible says that Asa assembled all of the people together and sacrificed to their God. Not only that, they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord with all their heart and soul. Now get this, anyone who did not enter the oath was put to death, despite their place in the community or gender. In verse 14, it states that they declared this oath with loud acclamation, with shouting and instruments. They sought the Lord and as God promised, were found by Him.

PRAYER: Lord, let me be reminded of the serious nature of our relationship. This renewal is essential. I declare today that I CHOOSE YOU. I WANT YOU TO HEAR MY DECISION TO COMMIT MYSELF TO YOU LOUD AND CLEAR, WITHOUT WAIVER. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
