And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
John 3:19-21
It’s an exposing light. Jesus makes it clear that the light has come into the world. Despite Jesus coming into the world to light our way, there are still those of us who choose evil, rather than good. Jesus says that everyone who practices evil hates the light, because they know their deeds will be exposed.
Connected to light, we must live openly before God and before each other. We must learn to be aware of who we really are and ask ourselves the hard questions, allowing the Holy Spirit to do the work in us.
PRAYER: Lord, give me the grace to live this life of mine in honesty and truth. I don’t always get it right, but let me always find myself running to you to confess when I fall short of your glory. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
